Accessibility Statement

This is an accessibility statement which we use as a guide to ensure our website, as well as the content which we create or help to create is in line with accessibility standards here in the UK and around the world.

Accessibility means making sure something can be used by as many people as possible, as with all things Teapot Collective we take an intersectional approach here.

We want to create accessibility for anyone experiencing temporary or permanent disability, long term illness, visual or cognitive impairment, as well as anyone experiencing mental illness, current or past trauma, hate crime, religious persecution, or a reduction in their freedoms, rights, or ability to express themselves.

We follow every recommendation made by the WCAG 2.1 Guidelines and the ADA Web Accessibility Standards & Requirements – both of which are linked underneath this statement.

Here is a list of accessibility principles which we follow;

  • We provide alternative accessible formats wherever text, video, or audio is used.
  • We make use of clear colours which can be easily distinguished from one another.
  • We use size 16 type font minimum.
  • When using stock photos, we avoid using photos which could be considered triggering. For example in a presentation created for women experiencing domestic abuse, we would not use an image of a woman being domestically abused.
  • Our entire website is able to be navigated using only the keyboard.
  • Our entire website can be scrolled to increase the size of the font.
  • All our videos are captioned.
  • Our website’s font and line spacing is accessible to assistive reading technologies.
  • All our website’s moving content can be stopped, paused, and played.
  • All our website’s images have an embedded alt text.
  • All our website’s links to other pages are clear and self explanatory.
  • We do not use blinking or flashing content anywhere in any capacity.
  • We make sure users can move through our website in a way which makes sense, and does not mislead the user into clicking anything against their intention, or navigating to an unsafe website.
  • The features and language of our website is consistent across all of its pages.
  • Our website is compatible with Google Translate, as well as Project Lambda.
  • Each URL on our website is descriptive of it’s pages content.
  • We use frequent spacers in order to avoid overloading the user with text information.

We follow these accessibility principles to ensure our website is Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.
