My Values

At the Teapot Collective I strive for our environment and the work that we do together to be healing, joyful, full of learning with the ability to be our authentic selves.

Healing

At The Teapot Collective I infuse healing with theoretical knowledge in order to produce a more holistic learning experience. The process of collective healing and self healing means we require to understand:

  1. the contexts that we currently exist in: political, historical and personal,
  2. the individual and collective traumas experienced by humans, our ancestors, over time and,
  3. identifying the connections and shared experiences between communities to create more empathetic ways of seeing the world and the people in it.

My approach to EDI work is from a trauma-informed perspective which includes much self-reflection and inward work. I support clients, individuals, communities and organisations to embark on this process safely and ethically.

Joy

Joy is something I yearn for at work and have done for many years and it is something that I’d like to prioritise in the Collective. Anti-oppression work, equity, diversity and inclusion work is emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically exhausting, especially where time is not allocated for joy. I experienced burnout in my roles in the third sector and I refuse to let that happen again and to create a culture whereby burnout occurs to individuals who engage with The Teapot Collective.

Joy is included in aspects of the courses I run, the consultancy work I do and in my personal self-care: it’s everywhere!

Learning

The Teapot Collective fosters a culture of learning. I love learning and I understand that I don’t know everything, thus I’m on a personal learning journey alongside the Teapot Collective and anyone who interacts with the service. I’m deeply passionate about making knowledge accessible and meaningful by relating complex concepts and ideas to our own personal experiences. For many people, including myself, this way of learning is refreshing.

Authenticity

It is important that any person, organisation and community, including myself, are able to show up as themselves when engaging with the Collective. This means that myself and anyone involved with the Collective will continually address the nature of our safe spaces and how we are working towards equity, diversity and inclusion. The real learning occurs when we feel safe enough to freely express ourselves and shine through our authenticity.
